Swamplife By Amber C
He arrived at the surface of the water and took a refreshing breath of air. He looked a bit scared because he thought a bear or something was going to come out, But no something didn’t come out BIGFOOT came out…. He was tall and reeeeally big. But he was the nicest guy you could ever meet. Now I know Bigfoot is meant to be mean and scary, but not this one, he's kind and he was never mean to anyone, people might have been mean to him he might of not listened but he still handled it well. I mean if you were in that village wouldn’t you be scared, well I would.

My wide reading response

Title:Billie B Brown the birthday mix up.
Author:Sally Rippin.
Main Character:Bille.
Text type:Fiction.
synopsis:
Meet Billie B Brown....
My name is Billie and it will be my birthday
soon.It will be the best birthday ever.Billie’s mum said the time for her birthday will be 12:30 but when it was 12:30 no one came Billie felt very sad she thought no one liked the games or the girls didn't  want to play with the boys. But just then Billies friend jack remembered that instead of 12:30 Billie wrote 2:30 billie and her mum started laughing so at 2:30 all her friends came and it was the best birthday ever.

I think the author chose this title because billie mixed up the birthday invitation.
Conection
Billie has a 3 year old sibling and I have a 3 year old sibling.

My favourite character is Billie because she is the main character and she is brave.

Describe an interesting text or relationship in the reason for your choice: Billie and jack are best friends they always play together.

Themes:billie birthday
Connections between me and the story:when I got really excited for my 9th birthday and billie got really excited for her 9th birthday.

Analyses the author style and identifies language features that were used:the author used adjectives.

Our School Hangi
Once again we will be celebrating Matariki with a whole school Hangi. We would like to EXTEND this to include games and activities. Every child will participate and contribute in some way. The Hangi will be on Thursday 21st June. Are you handy with a spade? Do you have a spare couple of hours?  Here is your chance to help our school! We need helpers to dig the pit for our hangi.  If you are available and would like to help we would love to see you at the school on Wednesday 20th June. This would be a great opportunity for our mums and dads to meet and chat with other families.  If you are available, please email Kelly Larnach kelly@oratia.school.nz
